About MSNBC
MSNBC started as a joint operation between Microsoft and NBC. Microsoft produced the shows while NBC gave them the airtime that they needed. MSNBC became popular during the 2008 election as there was a change in operation that shifted from hard news to more opinionated pieces. These opinionated shows were far more left leaning than any other news networks on at the time. This led to the association of MSNBC as the liberal version of Fox News.
While MSNBC is the major news organization, there is also another branch associated with MSNBC called CNBC that focuses on business related news. This channel was created in 1980 and is still going today. CNBC is a cable and small time satellite company who's website focuses more on article based coverage then on media.
