Rachel Maddow is one of the most popular onscreen personalities for MSNBC and is considered one of the best liberal reporters in the world. Maddow is known for her combative but welcoming interview style, and her rants on political blunders. Her voice, even when she is only writing the show, shines through as a well researched and sane voice on the far left side. She almost only focuses on political topics, however, there are moments when she covers major news events like shootings or bombings. These she often uses as ways to bridge into more politically focused discussions on ways that law makers can decrease the frequencies of these events. Her purpose is to convince her audience, which consists of liberals and politically minded people that are looking for a voice that is different from their own, that her points of view, liberal as well, are the correct ways to run a government or a society. Her tone, even though she can get combative, is often jovial or very light-hearted. When a politician does something that she disagrees with she doesn't get mad normally. Instead she often laughs it off or talks as if she is more disappointed than anything else.
